Jack Draper advanced to the second round of Qatar Open with a strong performance with a victory of 6-2 7-6 (7-4) against Alexei Popyrin.

The eighth seed – playing for the first time after retirement injured against Carlos Alcaraz on the Australian Open in January – needed only 27 minutes to keep the first set in Dubai to cope with the first administration of the British.

The second set was much less direct for Draper, because Popyrin saved the break point to maintain serving.
